Metro Red/Purple Line Core Capacity Improvements Project

Metro is proposing to widen the tunnel portal currently located in the Metro Red/Purple Line Maintenance Yard (Division 20 or Santa Fe Yard). This Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) evaluates the potential environmental impacts that would result from the Red/Purple Line Core Capacity Improvements Project (Project) that includes widening the existing tunnel portal southeast of Union Station and constructing new tracks and switches that will allow trains to turn around quickly at Union Station.
