Government Relations staff learned late yesterday that Los Angeles City Councilman Joel Wachs will introduce a motion next week urging the MTA to consider Oxnard Street as the preferred choice for future east-west mass transit in lieu of Chandler Boulevard. The council office is aware that the MTA is currently studying Oxnard Street. The motion serves as a vehicle to go on record in support for the alternative route.

Next week’s City Council agenda is not available at this time, but the motion could be scheduled for debate as early as Tuesday (2/20). Staff will provide information on council deliberations when more information becomes available.
