Overview: Foothill Transit is a local Transportation Zone approved by
LACTC on December 2, 1987. It is responsive to the needs of residents
in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys. The purpose of the zone creation
was to increase local control for the 20 cities participating in the
Zone, over the public transportation services provided to them and
explore the potential cost savings of private contracting. The regional
transportation provider (SCRTD) was the previous operator of the base service pprovided by Foothill Transit.
